In the summer of 2017, I was fortunate to attend a photography and art history course through SACI in Venice, Italy. For that time, our only concern was to document the magical city around us. After spending a month in Venice, it was impossible to overlook how crucial the lagoon was to everyday life in the city. I came to develop a strong sense of affection and respect for the waters that surrounded us everyday, and imagined the Venetian lagoon coming ashore, looking at her own body from the land. This photo series was my way of acknowledging the beauty and power of the lagoon, as well as its fragile state.
